Spring Fever, Ch-ch-changes, and FLOWERS!

I love my house. It’s one of the prettiest houses on my block. But, when the last owners overhauled it they turned it boring. My house, when we first moved in, was decidedly builder-grade, from the varying shades of beige that once graced our walls to the three boxwood bushes all in a neat row in the front of the house.  It was boring. And we just don’t do boring.

When we first moved into the house, we painted. A lot. No wall was left untouched, except for the bathroom walls and they probably won’t be safe for long. The dining room went brown, the living room went yellow, the guest room went green and the rest of the rainbow made appearances throughout the house.

Last May, we put a little herb and vegetable garden in the back. It produced a lot of delicious smelling herbs, approximately 16,987 jalapeno peppers and enough tomatoes to satisfy my bruschetta cravings for the entire summer and then some.

The only part of our property we hadn’t prettified, was the front yard. It was left all sad like with its three little boxwood bushes. And then last week it got warm out and I got all crazy-face and motivated and went to Lowe’s and bought grass seed and tons of plants and ripped up one of the baby boxwood bushes and went to town on planting flowers and pretty things and put down fresh mulch and now the front of the house looks a little bit more like I want it to.

Yeah, I know it doesn’t look much different from far away, but BEHOLD! FLOWERS!!

It’s a start. There are a million more little things I still want to do or add to the front of the house. I want to hang up ferns on the front porch and we need front porch furniture so we can sit and glare disapprovingly at our neighborhood hoodlums and chat with the neighbors. I want to plant flowers along the walkway and paint the front door RED RED and not just orangey red.  I want the tree to grow and the flowers to get bigger and the grass to grow and for the yard to not be weeds.

I also want it to not be 90 tomorrow like weather.com says. I’m just not ready for that shit.

Great start! How bout a lilac bush? They grow fast. And of course smell like heaven…
It’s 85 here on the mountain right now, and I’ve discovered allergies I never knew I had…

Look, madam. You can’t complain about the cold weather and then, in turn, complain about the hot weather. It’s not allowed. Please read over the rules that were sent to you. Good afternoon and such.

  3. Your house is cute as a button!

And whoa, we are clearly sharing a brain this week. I just did a post on my own housing renovations, then promptly went to my reader and found your post. Great minds think alike!
